What’s up cajon players!
I have something unusual for you but I think it can be very useful 🙂
This is the Meinl Percussion Speaker Cajon
To be honest the first time I saw it I thought to myself, this is a cajon with speakers to amplify the sound of the cajon, but actually I was wrong. This is a cajon with a sound system incorporated to basically play-along with music.
After I discovered that, I’ve decided to test it and make a review for you.
So, let’s check the specifications and see how it works.
Specs
- It comes with two 20 watt speakers in the sides.
- The body is made of 100% Baltic Birch with dual internal fixed sets of snares.
- It supports wireless connection with your phone.
- It comes wit a control panel on the top in the seat plate
This cajon costs 199 euros in Europe and $219 in the US

Review
As I’ve said before this has the same construction and sound of the Meinl Snarecraft cajon that I consider the best entry level snare cajon – Very balanced sound with good bass and good slap tone.
The speaker system is a great idea as a practicing tool. It’s very nice to have the possibility to connect your device with Bluetooth and play along with music and also with the metronome. I thought the speaker would be not as a good as a conventional sound system but actually it works fine because of the position. I think having the sound on the sides I feel like the sound was very close to my ears and of course vibration inside of the cajon helps as well.
The price is fair according to the quality of the cajon and sound system – 199euros in Europe and 219$ in the US
