How to Play a Rock Groove on Cajon

Hello!

I hope everybody had a good summer! I had a great summer over here and I’m here again to what I like the most, to teach you a Cajon Groove!

The groove we are going to see is a rock groove. I have named this as a rock groove but actually you can use this groove in other music styles as well.

The cool thing about this groove is the use of syncopation on it. You’ll notice that the first snare is played on the off beat on the 2& of the bar.

This syncopation can be very useful also to apply in your fills, I do it a lot!

As always, we are going to start slow at 50bpm for you to integrate the pattern. Then a bit faster at 70 bpm, to then try it at the goal tempo of 90bpm.

After you feel comfortable with the groove you are going to play it with music. I have included a Backing track in the video for you to practice this beat.

You can follow this tutorial with the FREE Pdf available in the Free Tools Area

So, time to learn the groove, let’s get started!

I hope you like this tutorial. You can get this and all of my free pdf downloads here.

I have included in the pdf other song suggestion for you to practice this groove.

Thanks a lot for watching.

Keep playing and having fun with the cajon, this is the most important 😉
