CUMBIA on cajon

Hi! I’m happy to back here, This time with a nice Cumbia groove!

Cumbia comes originally from Colombia and  through out the years the style expanded to the rest of Latin America, and many countries have their own variants of Cumbia. In this lesson I’m going to show an adptation of a cumbia groove on the cajon.

We are going to start playing it together slow with the metronome at 55bpm for you to really integrate the pattern.

Then a bit faster at 70 bpm, then we’ll try it at he goal tempo of the tutorial at 85bpm.

And then when you feel comfortable with the groove you are going to play with music. It’s very important to play this groove with cumbia songs to understand de feel of the music, the intention of the music. I have included the Backing track in the video for you to practice the groove with music.

The notation is available for free in the Free Tools Area

So, time to learn the cumbria groove! (watch the video)

I hope you like this tutorial.
