Bossa Nova on Cajon

Hello cajon players, I’m happy to be back here with a new lesson for you. And today is special I’m bringing something from my country The Bossa Nova from Brazil!

Bossa Nova is probably the most famous Brazilian music style around the world mainly because of a girl. The girl from Ipanema or in Portuguese “Garota de Ipanema”. This song was written by Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes and became an international hit also recorded by Stan Getz and the great Frank Sinatra.

In this lesson I’m going to show you 2 different ways you can play the Bossa. First the slow with brushes, and then with hands only, when you need to play more faster songs.

I suggest that you follow the lesson with the notation available in the Free Tools Area

Let’s learn the Bossa (watch the video)

Once you’ve learned the patterns it’s very important that you practice the grooves with music. I’ve included in the pdf a list of songs for you to practice the grooves. And to download the pdf with the free notation and list of songs click here

See you very soon in the next lesson!
